PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Okay guys, I'm going to run and see if i can find The Duke, or Maybe someone from Ubisoft. Either way, If you don't hear from me in the next 30 minutes, assume that I've been killed and another Pax Chats will arise in my place to run the chat with Turbine in 1 hr 20 mins.
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): I found the duke!
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Yay!
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Start asking your questions
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): we're headed to a room with better wireless
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): He doesn't have much time so start asking now1
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Okay we're back here in the Press Room the with the Duke of (I can do this) Pennekoekan ( I was close!0...Pannekoeken
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): ShadowJ (sh4dowj): Question: Why are you named "The Duke"?
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Basically my family comes from belgium and we have a plot of land cally the Dutchy of candied Apples and many years late during a violent battl emy families land was overrun by the dutchy of pennekoeken, and they needed me to be the the figure head for the family. It was very complicated There are alot of EU politics and fighting and you would never have heard of it because it never happened. In my brain it happened so..

: question:how mutch money have u made from rockband and guitar hero
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): How much money? Well. that's a weird question. Money from game companies, or money selling CDs. Usually putting a song in a game you can make a couple of thousand dollars but we didn't make any money putting our song in rock band or guitar hero, actually, but we did get some money from DS. But we generally give it out for free for the exposure. It does help us sell concert tickets and CDs later on.
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats):
ShadowJ (sh4dowj): Question: How was Freezepop formed and where did the name come from?
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Formed in the summer of 99 and i just had bought a little box call yamaha qa70 and it would have been fun to make a band using this little box. From a mutual friend I was introduced to Liz Enthusiasm and Sean T. Drinkwater and we decided to make a band with fun and silly synth music. And I really wanted to call it rock rocket pop, and because it was summer and we were eating alot popsicles, we decided on freezepop.
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Riobux (lostchances): Question: How many licks does it take to get to the centre of a Freezepop?
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): 3.16
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): phi
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): GODJonez (godjonez): What all music genres have you considered, what have you tried?
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Both sean and I are in side project bands and he's done cheeky lounge music and I make down tempo, ambient synth music, electronic rock band. We've tried a bunch of different stuff. Nothing exciting like bluegrass, and we haven't made any ochestral music or anything like that, it's basically very synth driven.
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Riobux (lostchances): Question: How close do you feel to your fan base?
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Actually pretty close. When we started the band ages ago, one of the things was to stay in close communication with our fans. Our e-mail addresses are on our website, and I even put my e-mail address in one of our songs. This was before myspace and facebook, but we try to answer all of the e-mails we get. Especially gamers, we feel really close to them. We actually wrong a song for our fans it's called Super Sprode.
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Riobux (lostchances): Question: Is there anything you use for inspiration for any new songs?
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Actually pretty close. When we started the band ages ago, one of the things was to stay in close communication with our fans. Our e-mail addresses are on our website, and I even put my e-mail address in one of our songs. This was before myspace and facebook, but we try to answer all of the e-mails we get. Especially gamers, we feel really close to them. We actually wrong a song for our fans it's called Super Sprode.
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): ShadowJ (sh4dowj): Question: If you could cover any song, what would it be and why?
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Hrm. This is a tricky question. There are acutally a couple of songs we are working on covering, but I don't want to give them away. Hmm..I like doing covers of obscure things, but I want people to figure out what it is. Dreaming of Me, by Depeche Mode is a song that i would like to cover. It's off of the Album Speak and Spell and the end of that song where there are alot of intertwined synthsizer parts was actually an inspiring moment for me to make Freezepop. There are a couple of songs off our first album where I tried to get the same intertwined. If we actually did a cover I would try to get Dave Gahan to actually sing it with us.
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Riobux (lostchances): Question: How does it feel to be in the position you're in?
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): I couldn't have asked for anything better to happen to me in my life
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): to not only work at a game company like Harmonix and make games that are very important to me and push music, an interactive music game out there, and to also be in a band that is so closely tied to the gaming industry is really a dream come true. Well, I worked at it. But it's really amazing. It's really fun
<Seb[Q] (sebqpl8

has left the room>
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): What came first harmonix or freezepop?
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Well the only song we've written that was FOR one of Harmonix games was Less Talk More Rokk, it was written because i knew it'd be fun to play on Guitar. The others, weren't adapted for the game, the song had already come first.
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): (NSE)Cmdr.Sonic (sonicjon): Question: How was it working with Harmonix, and would you do it again
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): The problem alot of people don't know I work there
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Would I do it again? I already work there, so I would like to continue working there ...again and again..and again..and again...for ever..and ever..and ever......and ever.
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Are there any surprises in your show?
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): I'm singing in this show, so that'll be new in this show. There will be different versions of songs, but no real surprises no...well. I hope there are. We have wireless midi now, so we can wander around. That's pretty awesome!
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Riobux (lostchances): Question: Any future projects in the band and/or outside the band?
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): One of my side bands is called "Symbion Project", I had a song in frequency and amplitude, and i'm working on a fourth album for that. For freezepop we've been talking about compiling all of our music videos and making a dvd. We haven't STARTED it yet, but we're talking about it alot. We're also releasing a new EP called "Frontload EP" , a bunch of remixes and a new video from the song Frontload that should be out in a few months or so...I hope!
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): The Duke Has to go, but his closing wise words "Keep on Rokking in the Free World!...That's Horrible!"
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Thanks again everyone!
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): I'm glad you had fun!
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Those were really good questions
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): The Makers of LOTRO
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): We just wrapped up the chat with The Duke from Freezepop and Robert Krakoff, the President of Razer!
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): Just 30 more minutes until Turbine and then we're wrapping up for the night.
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): We have a concert to go to! I'll try to take pictures of Jonathon Coulton, Freezepop, and TheOneUps! *Fangirl gigle8
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): *giggle*
PAX CHAT LEADER (paxchats): (yes this is a girl...for now...<_< >_>
