Hello Xfire!
As part of our ongoing effort to enhance Xfire's infrastructure to provide you all with better service, we decided to move from our Content Delivery Network (CDN) provider to a company with a much wider geographical distribution. A CDN helps to provide quick access to all of our media and content in areas that are not close to our data center. We were planning to make this switch over time, but were not able to find an arrangement with our current provider that would allow us to make a long move. Our team worked over the weekend to implement the changes, which will provide much faster access to Xfire services for users world wide, but unfortunately the speed of the move has caused some issues for some of our users.
The problem is that various Internet Service Providers' (ISP) DNS servers may take a few days, or up to two weeks to propagate. This means that some users outside of the USA will experience an error connecting to www.xfire.com.
THE GOOD NEWS: WE HAVE A WORKAROUND FOR YOU!
This change will NOT affect anyone using the Xfire app.
This change will NOT affect the beta site:
http://beta.xfire.com - you can keep on using the beta without experiencing any issues.
You can still access the classic website on
http://zhtw.xfire.com as a workaround.
(We highly recommend you use the new beta.xfire.com site anyway - We need your help testing it and will only be adding new features to it moving forward.)
Please note that videos and screenshots may also be affected during this time. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
Thanks for your patience. We're working hard to resolve the issue, but it is largely out of our control.
Sincerely, The Xfire Team
