Senior Web Developer
Xfire is looking for an experienced web developer to help build our web site. We are growing quickly, and need to scale up the amount of data we display as well as receive from users via our web site. For this role, we need a web developer who can help take charge of the design of our web site, all the way from rough HTML mockups through release (with help from artists, other PHP developers, infrastructure developers, etc.). You will be working closely with other developers, artists, and a producer.
You must be:
- smart
- self-motivated
- creative
- able to write high-quality XHTML, CSS, and Javascript.
- able to mock up beautiful web pages (hopefully putting our current ones to shame).
- able to deal with the weird ways different browsers render the same code.
- an experienced programmer using PHP.
- motivated to improve existing code. Everyone likes to build new pages; we need someone who can help improve our current pages too.
- a flair for design.
- years of experience as an Xfire user.

Senior Software Engineer
Xfire is looking for an experienced, extremely smart software engineer who gets things done. We have a small but extremely talented group of engineers. You must not only be able to learn from them, but also to teach us a thing or two. You must be passionate about video games.
For this specific role, we are looking for someone to help build our server-side infrastructure. In particular, building new scripts, servers, and configuring machines to handle the vast amount of data that our users send to us.
You must be:
- extremely smart
- self-motivated
- creative
- able to write code for a compiler and for your co-workers
- knowledgeable about client/server systems
- knowledgeable about Linux
- knowledgeable about high level programming in C++, especially with the STL
- knowledgeable about scripting languages
- motivated to make things better. Everyone wants to write new code; we need someone who can also improve old code.
Pluses if you have:
- knowledge of asynchronous (aka event-driven) programming
- knowledge of Perl, PHP, or other interesting languages
- knowledge about web site infrastructure

Quality Assurance Tester
Xfire is looking for a full time quality assurance tester to join their team in a creative, fast-paced, fun development environment. We are looking for individuals whom have experience with software, website and/or video game testing. They need to be familiar with Win32 applications and general PC hardware. Candidates should to be quick to learn; self motivated and have a passion to be part of a superior product. We prefer people who know and play video games on both consoles and/or PC's. This position is based in Menlo Park, CA. Walking distance from CalTrain; easy access to 101, downtown Palo Alto & Menlo Park. Salary for this position depends on experience. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Testing regularly scheduled releases of both the Xfire Client and Website
- Learn and become familiar with our website, product, features and functions
- Identify, troubleshoot and document inconsistencies and functionality issues (bugs) found within the Xfire Client and Website
- Work with the Xfire Customer Support team to track and research reports from users
- Develop and execute test plans and testing procedures
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- 2+ years of QA or Tech Support for Video Game and/or Windows applications
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office Applications
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Sharp attention to detail
- Aptitude to learn quickly and effectively
- Self motivated with a superb work ethic
- Strong knowledge of PC hardware and software installation and configuration a plus
- Test lead experience a plus
- Knowledge of HTML a plus
