Last Chaos Chat on Xfire: April 18th, 2008

[Xfire] LCLeader (lcleader): Hello! We are very pleased to welcome everyone to tonight’s chat with SusanRev and GMAracton of Last Chaos! Please join me in welcoming our special guests!

Our guests will now open with a few words and start taking your questions!

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Hello Everyone. Thanks for coming out and supporting LC, because it is the rockz0r.

susanrev: Hi All, I'm SusanRev the producer for LC thanks so much for coming!

susanrev: Question:  XFUBX (xfubx): Hi! With other MMOs like World of Warcraft and Guild Wars, Last Chaos is a bit of a dark horse. How do you make your game unique so that people will play it?

Answer: We work closely with our players to create unique and dynamic events everyday. We think that is our secret weapon!

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: J3ff4ya Zeveron.net (j3ff4ya): What is a normal day like for GMs in Last Chaos?

Answer: A normal day is full of love.  We start out by doing crunches and kicking one another for motivation.  Then we move on to the basic routine of spammers, fraud,  events and promotions.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: J3ff4ya Zeveron.net (j3ff4ya): What can we expect later in the game events wise?

Answer: Currently we are working on several types of new events. One includes player event days, where the players will create the events, and then vote on the ones they would like run for that specific day.   We are also looking to do another round of upgrade love day, where players who sign up can get free +1 upgrades.

susanrev: Question: J3ff4ya Zeveron.net (j3ff4ya): What can we expect later in the game events wise?

Answer: We have a lot of new stuff coming up including a new zone and new pets.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  HoldinMcNeal (doobius40504): Hi - Doobius here - I wanted to know how far you see level expansions in the furutre? Is there an "end game" in LC? What level would you say it will stop finally??

Answer: As far as level expansions. go, I would like to stray away from the expansions of levell and focus more on in game content for the levels that already exists. This means doing some serious cleaning of bugs and making  some of the lacking skills pack a little more punch.  We are also planning on expanding certain zones in the game.

susanrev: Question:  ▓▓▓▓▓▓ čẫłд ▓▓▓▓▓▓ (cala4): What is your favorite character in LC?

Answer: I have always loved playing a mage. The whole idea of using magic is a lot of fun for me.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: delaur000: What would you say is a GM's single primary purpose or function?

Answer: The primary purpose of a GM is to constantly innovate new  ideas for bettering the customer service of the game. This includes events, items, and just generally being cool to the players.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: rtotheicky (r2theicky): Ok my name is Ricky and my question is: Is there any insights for new various pets in the near future? For instance a electric pet or water/ice etc?

Answer: This is an awesome question. Currently we are getting really amped up about adding new pets.  The GM's on team LC have been adding their suggestions about what they would like to see implemented. Some of these suggestions include phoenix's,  demons and my personal favorite the pony of death.

susanrev: Question:  [5thGrp]-Th3flyboy (usmflyboy): Are there any plans to improve character customization?

Answer: Yes. We have in developemnet some new faces, hairstyles and even some wilder alterations! It may take  a while to get past the testing cycle and onto live though.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: rtotheicky (r2theicky): Ok my name is Ricky and my question is: Is there any insights for new various pets in the near future? For instance a electric pet or water/ice etc?

Answer: Unfortunately WASD was turned down by the developers.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): doh

susanrev: Question:  XFUBX (xfubx): Do you ever get time to play Last Chaos yourselves?

Answer: Yes. I do sneak off once in a while and do some 'live' testing on my secret player account :)

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  XFUBX (xfubx): Do you ever get time to play Last Chaos yourselves?

Answer: Several of the GM's play Last chaos in their spare time. Including GM moose and Krash. Moose blogs about it in his journal.  He also blogs about how he enjoys sunbathing  and  listening to gloria estefan

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: knightrider (knightrider08): Late at night here in the USA, there is no one to get the  gold spammers out.  Why can not you make it where if a gold spammer is reported that someone can take them out somehow, or give me the power to delete them.

Answer: I could not agree with you more. Currently we are working to get staffing late at night to combat the swell of gold spammers.  Also an ignore feature is currently being developed per player suggestion. This will help to filter out the gold spammers, as they never really shut up

susanrev: Question: knightrider (knightrider08): Late at night here in the USA, there is no one to get the gold spammers out.  Why can not you make it where if a gold spammer is reported that someone can take them out somehow, or give me the power to delete them.

Answer: We are working on an ignore feature. You won't be able to take them out for everyone, but you will be able to ignore them yourself.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: v§| L00NYGAMER (silmeria): How long have you have been working with Aeria Games?

Answer: I have been working for Aeria since last August. A lot has changed since then.  For some reason, I cant see my feet anymore...

susanrev: Question:  v§| L00NYGAMER (silmeria): How long have you have been working with Aeria Games?

Answer: I was one of the very first employees at Aeria and I have been working here for about 18 months.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  [Xfire] Artaxs (artaxs): Last Chaos is currently the 21st most popular game on Xfire out of over 1,000 games supported.

http://www.xfire.com/games/lcusa/Last_Chaos_USA/

How high in the rankings do you think it can go?

Answer: With everyones support I believe we can break the top 10 .   Which would be quite the achievement for our community.

susanrev: Question: v§| L00NYGAMER (silmeria): Do you have an estimated number of players in your database, perhaps?

Answer: We just hit the 2 million member mark!

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: Shinobi (burtoc): What Challenges to the GM's face on a Day to Day Basis, dealing with problematic people, attention wanting people, Gold Spammers, and of course, the Hackers?

Answer: A GM's duty encompasses around  14 basic functions.  These functions are divided amongst the team on a daily basis.  Many of them are time consuming affairs (hackers, spammers etc) .  We like to focus more on events, because they give us a break from the daily grind.

susanrev: Question: [FH]Showstopper / Phenom (viperet): I've noticed that Last Chaos seems to be a big mixup of some features from World of Warcraft and Guild Wars, but I've noticed its almost like an english version of "Silkroad", and I've found almost nothing original.  I don't mean to accuse anyone of anything, but how do you plan to take off with this?

Answer: In any sword and sorcery type MMO there is bound to be some common themes. We here at LC set ourselves apart by being closley involved with our playing community. To a large extent they direct how and where the game grows!

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  [FH]Showstopper / Phenom (viperet): I've noticed that Last Chaos seems to be a big mixup of some features from World of Warcraft and Guild Wars, but I've noticed its almost like an english version of "Silkroad", and I've found almost nothing original.  I don't mean to accuse anyone of anything, but how do you plan to take off with this?

Answer: Good question.  Last Chaos sets itself apart from other games  through its community and the support of its GM staff. While we may not have the development resources of the big fellas, we most certainly have the support of our players. As GM's we try very very hard to please everyone, especially when it comes to gameplay.  For example, players have been asking for quite some time for a more hands on approach to items being implemented into the game.  Therefore  we have begun to shift towards asking player opinion on content that we know is already directly under our control.  Thus eliminating the problem of players making great but unfeasible suggestions from a development point of view

susanrev: Question:  Is Aeria Games open to outsides MMO ideas for a new revolutionary game?

Answer: We are always ready to try any new game. I think Project Torque is a good example of that. It is one of the very first free racing MMOs in the world.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: Shinobi (burtoc): What exact skills do you require for the GM's or the DEV team?

Answer: While our company is not a developer. We do require extensive experience in the customer service field for our GM's.  On team last chaos each of us has a special skill. Were almost like the ninja turtles, except a lot cooler.

susanrev: Question:  Zac (zacofgilead): Are you guys going to make the avatars more customizable, I think it would be a really good idea, also when are more items in the item mall going to be available to be able to further personlize characters?

Answer: Yes. We want to bring new hair styles and facial features to our players. Perhaps opne an LC beauty shop.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: XFUBX (xfubx): How do you compare Last Chaos to other Aeria Games, Like Twelve Sky or Shaiya?

Answer: While Shaiya has the graphics and 12 sky the intense pvp action, LC has the one thing that makes those games pale in comparison.  Better looking GM's.    That and Last Chaos is a more well rounded game in terms of content/skills and pet systems.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): But you should play them all! Or we will find you.

susanrev: Question: Opyrus (opyrus): is last chaos looking for any DEV's ?

Answer: Sorry Opryus we are not a develpment company we are a publisher. If you wanted to dev work you would have to check with  the Dev company T-Entertainment

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  Zac (zacofgilead): Do you guys think you will ever have any underwater city, I see that we can already walk underwater, Atlantis would be awesome

Answer: While I don't know if it would be feasible to create an underwater city.  We definitely have a creepy new zone, that is currently under development. by our devs.  From the screen shots it will own an underwater city.

susanrev: Question:  kindercrys (kindercrys): I know LC was made the way with each character need to rely on others but is any way for a healer to solo in egeha as a rogue?

Answer: There may be in the future with the help of a new 'hunting pet'

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  High Preist Endbringer (kaykenday): Will LC ever get a more open ended char gen? like class with out being racebound

Answer: While I don't believe LC will ever have open racial class customization.  We have been fighting very hard to get some male/female variation for the classes.  But we will see what happens.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: Yakuri (yakuri): As well, will there be mini games on Aeria..so like when you are doing maintenance we have something to do?

Answer: We currently have a whole bunch of Flash games! Including Mario 2. and some game about a stick and his hair. It is very interesting.  All the flash games can be found in the games section of our website, (shameless plug) www.aeriagames.com

susanrev: Question: Yakuri (yakuri): As well, will there be mini games on Aeria..so like when you are doing maintenance we have something to do?

Answer: We already offer mini games ! Check out the main Aeria webpage and you will see our top ten. mini games. Plus we are bringing out Richman online soon which will be very similar to an online monopoly type game.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: Riobux (lostchances): What is your personal opinion of the MMORPG market? Do you feel that it has been dumbed down for the gamers of today or do you think that it has actually improved?

Answer: I believe that  the market is a very interesting place. Blizzard redefined the genre with World of Warcraft. Essentially creating  version 1.5 of MMO's.  Now all other companies in the pay to play market  are attempting to create version 2.0.   Luckily in the free to play market we have  a bit more leway in terms of what is expected of our games.  We can focus more heavily on community development rather than trying to trump the ten ton gorilla WoW

susanrev: Question:  knightrider (knightrider08): Will they ever have characters both female and male for each class ?

Answer: knightrider we are in discussion with our dev team about that, but due to the difficulty of creating 6 new character models plus all the customizations it is not going to happen anytime soon :(

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: Yakuri (yakuri): Will there be secret or hidden areas coming to Last Chaos?

Answer: While I am uncertain of all the details concerning Dratan Castle Siege. I do know that there is a dungeon inside of the pyramid that is accessible only if certain conditions are met by the players.  Which is just awesome.  Of course knowing our luck we will open it up and there will just be a dude who says "FOOL'd YOU".   Time will tell.

susanrev: Question:  delaur000: What other games outside of Aeria games do you play?  Any console games?

Answer: Lately I have gone old school and been playing Katamri on my PS2. I also play a lot of Sims2 and a little of City of Heroes

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  XFUBX (xfubx): I have noticed that your servers are always up, and only ever go down when there is an update? Do you see that as a selling point. (Im not trying to be nasty, just intrested ^^)?

Answer: Over the past months we have upgraded our servers many different times to ensure that they stay up. It is definitely imperative from a  business standpoint that they remain running.  I can confidently say however that while they lag from time to time, they rarely ever crash completely.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: kindercrys (kindercrys): Is SusanRev and GMAracton here?

Answer: No

susanrev: Question: kindercrys (kindercrys): Is SusanRev and GMAracton here?

Answer: Yes we are. Why do you ask?

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  zwabje (zwabje): will there be a storekeeper for our pets?

Answer: One idea we have been playing around with is creating a third party for pet trading.  Players suggested a stable, but we are thinking more along the lines of just an NPC in town. This would pretty much destroy all pet scamming in the game, for all but the most determined 43 year old jobless scammers.

susanrev: Question:  zwabje (zwabje): will there be a storekeeper for our pets?

Answer: We  recently had a player submitt a great idea of a stable iwhere player can put their pets, trade their pets and lend them out for a limited duration. We have submitted that idea to the dev team and we hope they will agree to create it.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: SysTeM (jxmxl): if we find bugss etc i mean i have bugged armour. and when i asked GM Graywulf he /she said. , proove its bugged. i mean does ppl ihave to be super smart to create video and show it to you, to proove there is a bug why dont we have  some GM day for live chat to ask stuff etc/

Answer: All bugs, in order to be documented, they must be reproduced by GM's. If we cannot reproduce the bugs, the developers cannot reproduce them, therefore  they would be unable to provide a fix.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  ▓▓▓▓▓▓ čẫłд ▓▓▓▓▓▓ (cala4): What would the game be like if it whent a week without any GM's/GS's

Answer: Babies would cry, and a giant monster made of lag would shimmy down from the heavens wreaking havoc on the citizens of Iris.  Also, popsicles and candy corn would cease to exist.   But really,  The community is highly dependent on Game Sages being available to answer questions. They are the GM's backbone and without them the game would be a lesser place.

susanrev: Question: ▓▓▓▓▓▓ čẫłд ▓▓▓▓▓▓ (cala4): What would the game be like if it whent a week without any GM's/GS's

Answer: It not be fun for anyone except the goldspammers. Our GMs and GS are the heart of our community without them LC would be in sad shape

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: minyjoy: have you ever thought of doing a crossover or collaborate event with another of your games?

Answer: We try to do as many cross promotions as possible. The difficulty lies in the fact that all of the games use different tool sets. Limiting the types of promotions available.

susanrev: Question: cynleah: Why dont we have a safety on weapons breaking to +6 like Malyasia does?

Answer: Our weapon system is structured differently from the Maylasia version. For example Maylasia doe snot have any Runes of protection or Lucky Smelting stones.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: delaur000: are GMs the same as game testers?

Answer: One part of our job is testing. GMMoose and Myself in particular are the more seasoned in testing the content. As there is only two of us  however, we sometimes miss bugs.  We do try our best though.  For example when dratan castle siege first came to test  I didnt move from my computer for 4 days.   For some reason noone sat near me...

susanrev: Question:  ▓▓▓▓▓▓ čẫłд ▓▓▓▓▓▓ (cala4): Will there ever be a server vs server battleground?

Answer: That is an awesome idea, but our servers cannot share databases so I  do not think there is a way to make it work :(

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: Sanjuaro (maningraysuit): I'm curious as to why you make your game so linear? I will admit that I have not played Last Chaos since early last year but while I was playing I ran into a spot where I was forced to spend hours on endn grinding to gain levels.

Answer: I agree that the game is linear. This is the reason we are fighting so hard with the developers to have more quests and content implemented into the game. It definitely needs to remain fresh in order to support the gameplay.  Although. I would argue that there is quite a lot to do in the game, in regards to pets, upgrading,  dungeon crawling etc.

susanrev: Question: minyjoy: why are most Item Mall items non-tradeable?

Answer: Most items are untradeable to deter fraud. We try to keep the most popular ones tradeable and we do have the gifting system in place to help players safely exchange goods.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: Shinobi (burtoc): All in All, for both Producer (Susan) and GM's (Aracton), what exactly is the Most annoying thing either of you have had to endure while supporting Last Chaos?

Answer: Inadequate over seas content QA. That and hearing GMkrash talk. He sounds like a  dying giraffe.

susanrev: Question: ─┼╙†Pain†╜┼─ (raykonen): What you think is the best of the game, What you think we like of Last Chaos?

Answer: I know the XO quiz event is always popular and the Halloween event was prolly the best liked event we've ever had and I think Castle Siege is one of the most fun days of the week!

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  XFUBX (xfubx): Will you be allowing the modding community to modify your game in any way. Like new HUDs or something?

Answer: Something tells me that the coding of the game would not support third party modfications.  Although its definitely something I am willing to look into.

susanrev: Question: Riobux (lostchances): What is your personal opinion of the MMORPG market? Do you feel that it has been dumbed down for the gamers of today or do you think that it has actually improved?

Answer: I think the MMORPG market has moved more towards casual game play. Most people do not have 50 hours a week free for gaming. I think some MMORPG wer emade to be simpler to attract those types of players.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  lidutza: Sorcerers are not so loved in LC. We're not searched for party. Most of them left for Shaiya. Can u make some new skills for them or some improvements?

Answer: I love sorcerers.  Currently sorcerers got owned in terms of bugs with their skills. Right now, we want to focus on removing bugs from the game for this summer.  While I cannot promise a full class revamp, there are definitely some skills that I would like to get the developers to look at AKA jail of water.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  Yakuri (yakuri): I like these type of question & and answer type of events, will there be more coming out?

Answer: As I said before we are focusing on getting the community more involved in the creation of events,  and content.  Q&A sessions such as these are definitely a good way to  start.

susanrev: Question: Yakuri (yakuri): I like these type of question & and answer type of events, will there be more coming out?

Answer: There will always be new questions coming out, or GS are always running impromptu quiz events so yes there will be more!

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: delaur000: Do game sages get paid?

Answer: Game sages are volunteers.   But they really are an amazing group of people, that deserve full respect in game. They work very hard for all of the players, and spend a lot of their real time working on in game problems for no pay all all.

susanrev: Question: delaur000: Do game sages get paid?

Answer: Game Sages do not get paid. They are volunteers and do it for the love of the game. They do however get to try out new items and give out prizes to other players.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  Riobux (lostchances): Will we get to customise the size of each class? Like allow our character to become extremily over-weight or thin?

Answer: This is highly unlikely, as the game would probably explode if a bunch of fat titans collided with a bunch of mal-nourished  sorcerers/

susanrev: Question: KenPaulio (kenpaulio): Are you going to make Player Owned Houses in ths game or Guild owned houses?

Answer: It is on our wish list. But not on the schedule. We are looking at devloping a 3-d chatroom that would have an LC theme for players and on there indivdual rooms could be owned and customized by players.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: minyjoy: what type of servers do you have, and what type do you think will be necessary in the future?

Answer: I am not certain of the exact types of servers,  I am all for getting the best that money can buy, in the future. But that really depends on player support.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: Shinobi (burtoc): GMAracton, are you implying that there's a major upcoming this summer? If so, will there be a sort of "Closed Beta" for X amount of people to come and test everything including finding bugs to report to Devs before you bring a "New Last Chaos Age" out in the summer?

Answer: I am implying that the Dratan castle siege includes a new castle siege mode, a new dungeon, and new items. For now the test server will remain open only to GM's and Game Sages.  Before the  new content is released however I will asking the developers to put certain player suggested content in with the patch.  An example of this would be changing the spawn camping issue currently found in merac castle siege.

susanrev: Question:  -=qtK=- Pvt. Jones[DGAF] (eqaddict08): Have plans been made to control gaps between "high end" gear and "casual gaming" gear; are there any plans to do so?

Answer: We do have plans for new gear, new skills and  new weapons. It is hard to say if they will fbe exactly what you want but they will enhance the current system

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  J3ff4ya Zeveron.net (j3ff4ya): What do you guys do to promote a friendly gaming enviornment?

Answer: All of the Last Chaos GM's are very laid back.  While we dont always have time to hang out in game. We try to convey our personalities through our events,  and community minded promotions such as the last chaos joke contest, and Project moose.

susanrev: Question:  J3ff4ya Zeveron.net (j3ff4ya): What do you guys do to promote a friendly gaming enviornment?

Answer: Our first line of defense is our Game Sage Team. They are out there helping with disputes and letting the GMs know of any issues. Our next line of defense are our bad word filters and our GM tools for managing poorly behaved  players. No game is ever going tobe completely jerk free but we like to think we make it hard to be disruptive or mean in LC.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: =M.T=|SkillerS| FirestorM (firestorm12345): hi can i ask is are there going to be other skills like fishing or hunting somthing to help the game with quests and make them deeper

Answer: While skills like fishing and hunting will probably not be implemented.  I can say that we are looking to add more quests. Especially for level 25 -80.    Where the game is lacking  in quest content.  Unfortunately we have been  informed that new quests take a very long time to develop, so we will see just when that gets put into motion.

susanrev: Question: Cloudsx (cloudsx): I like the mobs will there be more in the future ?

Answer: yes! we have an awesome new zone coming out this summer and with it will be a whole new horde of mobs.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: rtotheicky (r2theicky): Does last chaos in the near future look foward to implementing something like gameguard?)

Answer: While it would be great to have gameguard.  We are afraid that adding it this far into  Last Chaos's life would cause issues for our current players.

susanrev: Question:  rtotheicky (r2theicky): Does last chaos in the near future look foward to implementing something like gameguard?)

Answer: we really don't need gameguard. we have internal tracking system the identifies botters and hackers. Every week we catch a few hundered and send them off before they can to any real damage to the economy or the game.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: rtotheicky (r2theicky): I believe someone asked this question but I don't believe it was answered. The scrolls that can transform you into a sasquash, werewold etc. Would there be anyway to be able to attack in that form?

Answer: If GMKrash has his way you will be able to attack from this form.  We also want to add new forms to the game. So we shall see.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: lordxmortis: Will you ever open up acces to say even g's to ythe test sever?

Answer: Currently Game sages and Game Masters have access to the test server.  I don't believe our test server could hold all of our players at once.

susanrev: Question: lordxmortis: Will you ever open up acces to say even g's to ythe test sever?

Answer: We often invite GS to help us test new content on the test server. Players are not allowed on test because we need to be able to control the world for much of our testing.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  Zetanor (zetanor): What do you usually drink while you're moderating the game?

Answer: Grain alcohol and mouthwash. Occasionally rockstars.

susanrev: Question:  Zetanor (zetanor): What do you usually drink while you're moderating the game?

Answer: The souls of gold spammers!

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: Riobux (lostchances): Who's the best at gaming out of all the GMs?

Answer: It depends on what game.  For example,  I always get owned at super smash.  But when it comes to  Call of duty, I reign supreme.

susanrev: Question: Riobux (lostchances): Who's the best at gaming out of all the GMs?

Answer: Any GM you ask is the best.

susanrev: Question:  ▓▓▓▓▓▓ čẫłд ▓▓▓▓▓▓ (cala4): who do you think would come out on top if all the GM's and GS's had a giant duel?

Answer: GMs would have an unfair advantage. They have godl like powers and GS are regualr players.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question: minyjoy: will there ever be a centralized location displaying all the items that a player currently wants to sell either at auction or at a set price, for all to see?

Answer: I dont believe the game engine would support an auction house type of area.  These are fairly hard to program. But I suppose in the future it may be possible.

The Lone Cheese (gmaracton): Question:  Yakuri (yakuri): Will there be an event like a.."meet the GMS" in person..so basically we get to meett u and hang out :D

Answer: Currently we have events like this.  Win a date with GMsilverrose and  GMmoose were very popular.  They allowed players to have exclusive grouping sessions with the GM's, the winners even got cool prizes and special monsters spawned for them.

susanrev: Question: Yakuri (yakuri): Will there be an event like a.."meet the GMS" in person..so basically we get to meett u and hang out :D

Answer: Well we will be at some of the Game conventions this year. IT might be a good opportunity to throw some player appreciation parties in various cities! Thanks for the idea.
