XFIRE™ ADDS MAJOR NEW SERVER BROWSER FUNCTIONALITY
Users Report It Dramatically Improves the Way They Play Online Games
Menlo Park, Calif. – August 9, 2004 – Xfire, Inc. today announced that its free service, Xfire™, now supports PC game server browsing and joining functionality. More than a simple server browser, Xfire tracks a player’s recent and favorite servers, along with their friend’s favorite servers. Then, with a single click, gamers can join the server of their choice.
“This new feature extends the social connections between gamers and their friends,” said Mike Cassidy, CEO of Xfire, Inc., “Xfire is all about making gaming more fun – and playing with your friends on your favorite servers hits the bullseye.”
The new feature comes just in time for the release of DOOM 3 and QuakeCon, major summer milestones in the first person shooter genre.
The server browser functionality joins a continually growing list of Xfire features, including automatically tracking when and where gamers’ friends are playing PC games online. With one click, gamers can instantly join their friends’ games or play with friends of friends. Xfire also lets gamers instantly message their friends who are in-game without crashing their game.
